Educational Qualification

Obtain a bachelor’s degree, preferably in criminology or a relevant discipline from a recognized university.

Examinations

Clear the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) or the Central Selection Board (CSB) examination specific to police department recruitment.

Age & Physical Criteria

Be between 21 to 30 years of age (with category-based relaxations) and meet the physical fitness standards set by the department.

Selection Process

Successfully pass through a three-stage process which includes a written examination, physical test, and an interview.

Training

Once selected, undergo rigorous training at designated police academies or institutes, which can range from six months to two years.

Roles & Responsibilities

After training, CID officers investigate serious crimes, conduct raids, interrogate suspects, and collaborate with other intelligence agencies.
