Educational Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications:

For FV-F Level (Based on Education)

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, electronics, physical sciences, information management, engineering, telecommunications, or other fields related to the position.
  • At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the fields mentioned above.
  • Note: Schools must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

For FV-G Level (Based on Education)

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
  • 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
  • LL.M., if related.

For FV-F, FV-G, FV-H, FV-I, and FV-J Levels (Based on Work Experience)

  • Knowledge of principles of electronics, mathematics, computers, aeronautics.
  • Experience in automated systems operation, integration, management, and maintenance.
  • Specialized work experience demonstrating knowledge of basic electricity and electronic theory, mathematical problem-solving skills, and experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic systems/equipment.

Age Limit

  • The FAA does not specify an age limit for applicants; however, U.S. Citizenship is required, and Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
