Educational Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following educational qualifications:
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Proficiency in Spoken and Written English.
- Preferred Experience: Addiction trained Psychiatrist who is board eligible or board certified.

- Promotes Veterans’ adaptive recoveries from addictions and substances of abuse.
- Initiates and manages Veterans who require Methadone Maintenance in the Opioid Treatment Program.
- Provides Medication Assisted Treatment to Veterans in Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program, Residential Substance Rehab program.
- Trains Addiction Fellows and Psychiatry Residents in Substance Abuse program.
- Provides consultation to Medical and Psychiatric colleagues for MAT.
- Performs psychiatric evaluations, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
