Ex-Naxalite Teen Ace Student Who Has Passed 12th Now Eyes Police Career!

A 19-year-old tribal girl from Gondia district in Maharashtra, who was once a member of a Naxalite group, has passed the 12th grade board exams and wishes to join the police force. Rajula Ravelsingh Hidami, who resides in the Lovhari village of the Kurkheda Taluka in eastern Maharashtra, passed the state board examination with 45.83 percent marks. The Maharashtra state board had announced the 12th grade exam results earlier this week.

According to media reports, Rajula was abducted by the Naxalites in 2016-17 when she was grazing cattle near her village and was forcefully inducted into the Kurkheda Korchi Devari (KKD) Dalam (group). She was trained to handle weapons and was allegedly involved in a violent incident against the police. However, when the police intelligence department received information that she wanted to leave the banned organization, they assisted her to escape in 2018.

Education completed at the tribal residential school

Rajula surrendered herself in front of then Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Athole. Considering her young age, senior police officers spoke to her and persuaded her to rejoin the mainstream of society. Athole became her guardian and with the help of Tribal Development Project Officer Jitendra Chaudhary, facilitated her admission into a tribal residential school. Athole is now the Superintendent of Police at the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Aurangabad.
