From Corporate Ladder to Civil Service: The Inspiring Journey of Shreyans Kumat

The Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is one of the most challenging competitive tests in India. While thousands of candidates spend years preparing for it, only a few succeed. Shreyans Kumat, an engineer from Ajmer's Kishangarh, is one such success story. He left his well-paying job to prepare for the UPSC and aced it on his first try.

Early Life and Aspirations

Shreyans Kumat always wanted to become an engineer, a dream he achieved by graduating from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay with a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. However, his grandfather always encouraged him to aim for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

The Turning Poin

After working for around two years at the consulting firm Ernst & Young (EY), Shreyans felt a calling to do something more meaningful for society. This realization led him to leave his job and start preparing for the UPSC CSE. He even enrolled in offline courses to aid his preparation.

The Preparation Journey

Shreyans found both offline tutoring and online courses beneficial for his UPSC preparation. He used to study for around 10 hours a day and conducted extensive research on the exam format. His hard work paid off when he secured an All India Rank of 4 in his first attempt at the CSE.

Shreyans Kumat's story is a testament to what can be achieved with dedication, hard work, and a clear sense of purpose. His journey from a high-paying corporate job to serving society as an IAS officer is truly inspiring.
