From Engineer to IAS Officer: Ayushi Jain's Journey of Resilience and Triumph

Ayushi Jain's path to becoming an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer was anything but smooth. Hailing from Sironj city in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district, Ayushi faced numerous challenges but never lost sight of her ultimate goal. Her story is an inspiring tale of resilience, strategic preparation, and the will to succeed against all odds.

Early Life and Education

Born into a modest family, Ayushi's father runs a grocery business, and her mother is a housewife. Despite her humble beginnings, Ayushi was an academic star from a young age. She scored 91.2% in her 10th-grade exams and 90.4% in her 12th-grade exams. She then went on to earn an engineering degree in computer science from Lakshmi Narayan College of Technology in Bhopal, graduating with a CGPA of 8.68.

The Corporate Detour

After completing her engineering degree, Ayushi worked as a data center administrator for two years. However, her desire for a government position led her to quit her job and focus on preparing for the UPSC Civil Service Exam.

The UPSC Journey

Ayushi's first attempt at the UPSC exam in 2017 was unsuccessful, as she couldn't even clear the preliminary round. Undeterred, she modified her approach and managed to pass the prelims on her second attempt in 2018 but fell short in the mains exam. After two failed attempts, Ayushi was on the verge of giving up but chose to persevere. She changed her optional subject from Math to Anthropology and revamped her preparation strategy. Her dedication paid off when she secured an All India Rank of 41 in the 2019 UPSC exam.

Lessons Learned

Ayushi credits her success to her habit of reading newspapers and learning from her previous mistakes. She took her failures as learning opportunities and adjusted her strategies accordingly, which ultimately led to her success.
