Radheshyam Mopalwar is not your typical retired bureaucrat. A 1995-batch IAS officer, Mopalwar has had a distinguished career that began in 1982 when he joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). He later served as Deputy Collector in Maharashtra before joining the Indian Administrative Services. Even after his retirement in 2018, Mopalwar continues to be a vital part of the Maharashtra government's various projects.

A Career Spanning Multiple Roles

Mopalwar's career has been nothing short of extraordinary. He has held various significant positions within the Indian bureaucracy, including roles in the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). His expertise lies in the infrastructure sphere, where he has been involved in several key projects, such as the Samruddhi Mahamarg, a 701 KM Expressway connecting Nagpur to Mumbai.

Noteworthy Contributions

One of Mopalwar's most notable contributions was during his tenure as the Collector of Nanded District between 2005 and 2009. He executed prestigious projects like Gur-ta-Gaddi at Nanded and played a crucial role in the revival of the Nanded District Central Cooperative Bank. His deep understanding of the financial and banking system was evident in his work.

Mopalwar is not just an administrator but also an academician. He holds a graduate degree in economics and a post-graduate degree in law. He has served as the CEO of Rural Development at Hingoli, Director of Water Resources at Pune, and was the first Director of Information Technology for the Government of Maharashtra. His tenure as Director of the Groundwater Surveys and Development Agency is widely remembered for his contributions to groundwater management.

Even after retirement, Mopalwar was reappointed by the Government of Maharashtra as Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of MSRDC. His role in infrastructure and transport development projects continues to make him an invaluable asset to the government and the people of Maharashtra.
