In a world increasingly fraught with stress, anxiety, and complex challenges, the role of guidance and counselling has never been more critical. Recognizing this need, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched a Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling. The course aims to equip in-service teachers, educators, and school administrators with the skills needed to guide students effectively. The course spans one year and employs a hybrid teaching model that combines both distance learning and face-to-face interactions. The offline sessions will be conducted across various locations in India, including DEPFE, NIE, New Delhi, and Regional Institutes of Education in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru, and Shillong. The course is open to: Candidates must have a minimum score of 50% to be eligible. Preference will be given to those with at least one year of teaching or related experience. Candidates will be shortlisted by a committee based on specific selection criteria. The shortlisted candidates will then undergo an offline selection test, which includes essay writing and an interview. NCERT emphasizes that the complexities of modern life, including stress, low academic achievement, and behavioral issues, necessitate the provision of guidance and counselling in schools. This course aims to equip teachers and other school personnel with the skills required to address these challenges.Course Details
