Educational Background

Dr. Dinesh Das is highly educated, holding a Ph.D. in Environmental Law and Sustainable Development from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. He also has an M.Sc. in Forestry (Agroforestry and Environmental Science) from Gujarat Agricultural University, Navsari. His academic background makes him uniquely qualified to understand the complexities of civil service roles that often require a multidisciplinary approach.

A Leader in Recruitment

During his tenure as the Chairman of the GPSC from February 2016 to January 2022, Dr. Das oversaw the recruitment process for 26,116 officers through 827 advertisements. This recruitment drive saw a massive turnout, with a total of 62 lakh candidates registering for various positions. His leadership has been marked by efficiency and a commitment to finding the best talent for public service roles.

National Contributions

Dr. Das has also served as the Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the All India Public Service Commission from December 2020 to January 2022. This committee, consisting of 9 members, is responsible for coordinating with all 29 state public service commissions on various issues at the national conference held annually.

Innovations in Civil Service Exams

Not just a leader in recruitment, Dr. Das has also been at the forefront of educational reform. He chaired the Draft Committee responsible for preparing the model syllabus and exam pattern for civil service exams across states. This draft was primarily accepted in the 20th National Conference of Chairpersons of State Public Service Commissions held in Goa on January 12 and 13, 2018.
